Sooke Adrena Line - Birthday Celebration
My nephew, Chris (the cave explorer), celebrated his 29th birthday by going with his mother and family to Adrena Line Zip Line Adventures in Sooke, Vancouver Island to experience the zipline. See YouTube clip of one of his rides above.
Quite a far cry from this picture taken at our home on New Year's Day 1984 when Chris was not yet two!

And this is one of my favourite early pictures of Neil and Chris - Chris is probably wondering who this funny man is.

Celebrating 40 Years Together
My cousin, June, and her husband Ron, celebrated 40 years of marriage on March 20, 2011. They were married in Victoria, and as you can see, Ron and his groomsmen wore their red serge RCMP uniforms. Don't they look handsome! I don't have a "now" picture for comparison, but they are still a very good looking couple. They have two adult daughters and one granddaughter.

Vancouver Island Cave Exploration and Chris
The following information is from the Vancouver Island Cave Exploration Group website:
Some of Canada's longest and deepest cave systems are found on Northern Vancouver Island. There, hundreds of caves have been surveyed since systematic exploration began in the early 1970s, including some with over 10 kilometres of mapped passages. Vancouver Island is so rich in caves, with more than 1,000 recorded, that it is sometimes referred to as the "Island of Caves".

The caves of Vancouver Island are comparatively well developed due to high rainfall, dense vegetation, soil cover, and mountainous topography.
My nephew, Chris, who has been attending University of Victoria working on his Masters degree, has become very active in a cave exploration club on Vancouver Island and is often away on weekends exploring caves or taking courses on such things as "cave rescues". Here are some pictures he sent me of his adventures:

Nephew Sam in Paris
My nephew, Sam, is taking his third year of post-secondary education at a university in Paris, France, on an exchange from UBC. We miss him, but can follow parts of his life on his blog: http://fillinguponbread.tumblr.com/
And here is a recent picture of him:
His mother and brother, Teddy, will soon be going to Paris to visit.
