Last night, with much anticipation, Neil and I watched the last of 4 parts of "Downton Abbey", an English period drama featured on PBS' Masterpiece Theatre. We expected that this last part would complete the series and answer all the questions raised in our minds about the lives of the various characters. However, we were shocked at the end of part 4 to view a "fade-out" scene showing the beginning of the Great War, with an announcement that the series was to be continued in a second season and that filming was in production. Looks like we have to wait months to get our answers. Will Lady Mary Crawley and her third cousin, the decidedly non-aristocrat Matthew Crawley, finally get together, and what about the Valet Bates - will he find happiness?
Fabulous series, excellent acting, especially by Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess. View link here:

We have a New Car!
After doing lots of research, visiting various car showrooms, and test driving the Infiniti G37, the Buick Regal, Malibu and Lacrosse, and the Nissan Altima and Maxima, we bought a new Hyundai Sonata, Ltd edition (pictured above) and traded in our old Nissan Maxima which is 10 years old. Larry at Open Road Hyundai at the Richmond Auto Mall was a great salesman.
We loved our Maxima but age gets to everthing! Goodbye Maxima - you served us very well for 10 years.

"This" starring Megan Follows
Attended the play "This" at the Vancouver Playhouse with Toni this afternoon. The play was written by Melissa James Gibson of Vancouver and the Playhouse is featuring the Canadian premiere of this work. The lead star was Megan Follows, formerly of "Anne of Green Gables" fame.
The play featured crises in the lives of four 30-something friends with a mixture of funny, poignant, sour and adult moments.

Robbie Burns Day
Last night Neil and I attended a Robbie Burns Dinner at my brother, Ken's, Masonic Lodge. Ken was the MC and did a great job doing the address to the "Imortal Memory" of Robbie Burns - great gaelic accent. Also, the wife of one of the lodge members did a very funny "Response from the Lassies". Libby, Linda, Shelly and Teddy attended as well. It was Ken's birthday, but we didn't embarrass him with a cake.
