Masterpiece Theatre's "Downton Abbey"

Last night, with much anticipation, Neil and I watched the last of 4 parts of "Downton Abbey", an English period drama featured on PBS' Masterpiece Theatre.  We expected that this last part would complete the series and answer all the questions raised in our minds about the lives of the various characters.  However, we were shocked at the end of part 4 to view a "fade-out" scene showing the beginning of the Great War, with an announcement that the series was to be continued in a second season and that filming was in production.  Looks like we have to wait months to get our answers.  Will Lady Mary Crawley and her third cousin, the decidedly non-aristocrat Matthew Crawley,  finally get together, and what about the Valet Bates - will he find happiness?
Fabulous series, excellent acting, especially by Maggie Smith as the Dowager Countess.  View link here:

  1. We've really been enjoying this as well and are pleased that we'll be treated to a new season. Perhaps it will go on as long as Upstairs Downstairs...who knows?
