Today Neil and I, together with Linda and Shelly, and Ken, attended a birthday party in honour of our Uncle Danny, our mother's brother, who turned 85 today. Here is an older picture, with Danny in the centre, with his sisters around him. All the sisters have since died.

The birthday celebration was held at the Pacific Inn in White Rock, and featured its Sunday Brunch. It was organized by his children, Carol, Danny Jr. and Janice and their spouses. Great to see all the family there.

Uncle Danny was born in 1926 in Ebenezer, Saskatchewan located near Yorkton, and, after the death of his mother, he and his siblings were raised by their maternal grandparents, Daniel & Annie Kimmel on the Kimmel Family farm on a homestead in Ebenezer. Danny married Sally in 1945 and they moved to Vancouver. Danny worked for various furniture manufacturers and then opened his own series of furniture stores, mainly on Victoria Drive. Sally died in 2010; they had four children: Larry, Carol, Danny Jr. and Janice.
It was great to celebrate a happy family event and to see all the cousins again.
